Aircraft Engineering Directorate
The Aircraft Engineering Directorate issues Type Certificates for aircraft designed and manufactured in India and Type Acceptance for aircraft designed and manufactured elsewhere and also approves Design Organisations. The Directorate has an Aero Laboratories Division, an Aviation Environment Unit (AEU) and an Air Transport Division for approval of schedules of Indian operators.
